2012 Houston’s Funniest Person Contest – Preliminary Lineups – Announced Dates

The 60 contestants in the 25th annual HFP now know when and where they’ll begin their quest to become Houston’s Funniest Person! This last Monday at HCU Open Mic, we drew spots for the 4 preliminary rounds.

Each night has 15 contestants & the top 3 scorers will automatically advance to the semi-finals.

These lists were drawn publicly and fairly, but if any of the contestants have a scheduling conflict for the night they are scheduled to compete, they are welcome to negotiate trades, switches, sales, etc. amongst each other. Once you have a deal to trade spots, send me an email to johnwessling @ gmail.com, and as long as both sides are consenting and entering into the deal freely, it should be no problem.

I would encourage using the comments of this blog entry or the HCU facebook group wall to post prelim night trade requests.

After the last prelim, and all 12 automatic semi-finalists are announced, the highest 6 scorers of the 4 prelims will be eligible for the WILD CARD round at HCU Open Mic on June 4th.

The 6 WILD CARDS will be seeded 1-6 by score and matched up head-to-head. Winners are determined entirely by audience/mob vote. 3 will advance to semifinals.

15 semifinalists will perform 2 shows, scores will be combined, the top 7 move on to the finals.

The 8th and 9th place finishers go head to head in one last WILD CARD round at HCU Open Mic on June 11th.

8 finalists will get 3 chances to prove they are Houston’s Funniest Person…
